 Your Egypt Tours Egyptologist guide will take you to get on a motorboat to the west bank, then a camel ride to the southern tip of Elephantine Island. You will visit the Monastery of St Simeon. This is an ancient fortress-monastery mostly built during the 7th century and located near Aswan. The monastery was named after Anba Hedra whose wedding was a famous story. From this monastery, monks set off to Nubia to convert people to Christianity. The monastery consists of two levels. The lower part was built of limestone while the upper level was built of mud bricks. Your guide will tell you the history of the monastery before going back to the hotel.
